Cleveland looks to split series with Cubs Wednesday

Coming off a dissapointing 7-1 loss on Tuesday, the Cleveland Baseball Club will look to split their series with the Chicago Cubs.

It was not a great result for Cleveland Tuesday, but luckily they have chance to split their series with the Cubs on Wednesday. Cleveland’s starter will be Carlos Carrasco and the Cubs will send Kyle Hendricks to the mound.

Carlos Carrasco has an impressive 2.50 ERA and 1.000 WHIP in three starts this season with a 11.5 K/9. Carrasco is 2-1 on the year with his loss coming against the Minnesota Twins. Cookie allowed 3 runs (all homers) on 6 hits total. In his other two starts Carrasco has allowed only 2 runs on 6 hits in 12 innings with 18 strikeouts. The 33-year old pitcher has only faced three Cubs batters in the past, Jason Heyward, Josh Phegley, and Steven Souza Jr. Phegely is 1-2, Souza Jr. is 1-8 and Heyward is 0-2.

Chicago’s starter Kyle Hendricks keeps on chugging along, with a 3.54 ERA and 0.934 WHIP in 3 starts this season. Hendricks is someone who has been consistent throughout his career and has never had an ERA above 4. There are two Cleveland batters who have had success in limited at-bats against Hendricks in the past. Jordan Luplow is 1-3 with a home run and Carlos Santana is 2-5 with a double. Domingo Santana has the most at-bats against Hendricks, but is only 4-17. Cesar Hernandez has struggled against Hendricks, going 3-14 with a double.

Wednesday’s game is scheduled to start at 6:10 P.M.
