Kevin Porter Jr. to only miss two weeks

After suffering what appeared to be a devastating injury, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kevin Porter Jr. will only miss two weeks.

When Kevin Porter Jr. went down in Sunday’s loss to the Timberwolves, it looked like he was going to be out for a long time. It was a non-contact injury and Porter immediately went right to the floor. The video of the injury looked ugly.

Luckily, the Cavaliers got some good news. Kevin Porter Jr. will only miss two weeks with a knee sprain.

When watching the game live, that looked like a season-ending injury. Even on replay it still looked season-ending. Porter dodged a massive bullet here. The fact he will only miss two weeks seems impossible. Porter is going to be able to return and contribute in what has been a trying year. Kevin Porter Jr. is part of their long term plans and will be an integral part of the Cavaliers moving forward. Being able to grow his game and develop chemistry with his teammates will pay dividends over the long haul.

Kevin Porter Jr. has appeared in 34 games this season, averaging 8.5 points on 43.9% shooting in 21.8 minutes per game. Porter has shown some bright spots in his rookie campaign, scoring a career-high 24 points in a loss to the Rockets on December 11. There is definitely something to build on with Porter. Cleveland is lucky that he will return this season.
