Cleveland set to take on White Sox for three game set

The Cleveland Baseball Club will face the visiting Chicago White Sox at home for a three game set as they attempt to stay atop the division.

A crucial three game series against an opponent that gave them fits last year awaits on Monday. The Cleveland Baseball Club will play host to the Chicago White Sox who are coming off a rough opening weekend against the Minnesota Twins.

Cleveland will send the trio of Aaron Civale, Zach Plesac, and Shane Bieber to the mound. Civale and Plesac will be making their season debuts while Bieber is fresh off an eye-popping Opening Day performance, Cleveland will be hoping for their rotation to continue their strong start to the season.

Luckily Cleveland was able to figure things out in Game 3 against Kansas City as they were struggling in the run scoring department. If this is something that can carry over to their series against the White Sox is should pay dividends.

Chicago is expected to start Dylan Cease, Carlos Rodon, and Lucas Giolito. Giolito had a lackluster outing on Opening Day as he allowed 7 runs in on 6 hits, and 3 walks in just 3.2 innings. Chicago’s number one starter is definitely a rebound candidate and Cleveland will have to keep up their offensive production from Sunday’s 9-2 win over Kansas City in order to avoid being shut down.

The White Sox were outscored 27-17 during their three games with Minnesota. A combination of bad pitching and Minnesota recreating their magic from last season made that happen. The series starting on Monday will tell more about which is more accurate, Chicago’s pitching quality is not that good or Minnesota’s scoring proficiency in 2019 is not a fluke.

Game 1 on Monday was postponed and will take place on Tuesday with Game 2 in a doubleheader at 3:40 P.M. and 7:10 P.M.
Game 3 is Wednesday at 6:10 P.M.
