Triston McKenzie

Triston McKenzie to start for Cleveland Wednesday

The Cleveland Baseball Club will be calling up the young pitcher for a spot start against Detroit Wednesday.

In need of a pitcher on Wednesday, the Cleveland Baseball Club is calling up Triston McKenzie from Triple-A. It will be a short stay for McKenzie as he will be optioned back to Columbus after the game.

Cleveland optioned Triston McKenzie to Columbus just a few days ago, but find themselves in need of a pitcher. The spot start route is really the only viable option for Cleveland at this time and giving McKenzie a chance against Detroit is a wise option. McKenzie allowed just two runs in 10 innings with 13 strikeouts against the Tigers last season. Hopefully this can bring back some of the promise seen in 2020 as 2021 has not gone well for the 23-year old starter. Walks, high pitch counts, and a drop in velocity have been a problem this season, resulting in his option to Triple-A.
