The Barge

The Barge remains in Cleveland

The Cleveland Browns defeated the Detroit Lions 20-16 in the Great Lakes Classic Thursday and remain the owners of The Barge.

The Barge remains in Cleveland for another year. Cleveland defeated Detroit by a score of 20-16 in the Great Lakes Classic. For the second consecutive season the GLC took place in the last week of the preseason.

The game was full of roster bubble players and rookies. The infield performance was not pretty and even included a safety by Detroit. In fact the score at one point was 3-2. Something that looked like it should have taken place in Thursday’s game between the Indians and Tigers, not the Browns and Lions.

Some may not like the trophy, but others find it quite entertaining.

Yes the trophy is a bit bulky and appears to be awkward to carry. It is just the right amount of ridiculous that everyone wants in a trophy for a meaningless preseason game. Especially for two franchises who have seemingly shined more in the preseason than the regular season since the Great Lakes Classic begun.

After playing a large amount of backups in their final preseason game, both the Browns and Lions are going to have make some tough decisions since roster cuts need to be made by Saturday.
