Nick Harris

Nick Harris to Browns in Round 5

The Cleveland Browns have selected University of Washington center Nick Harris with the 160th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Cleveland Browns needed to add some depth in the middle of their offensive line and that is what they did with the 160th pick in the draft, selecting Washington center Nick Harris.

This pick was acquired via a trade down with Indianapolis the day before.

The Browns already addressed the tackle position by drafting Jedrick Wills Jr., now they have drafted a player who can play both the guard and center position. Cleveland’s offensive line appears to no longer be the liability it was the year before. Even if a player (or two) is unable to play for one reason or another, there is a way to make things work.

There is an opportunity for Harris to compete for the starting right guard position, but things get interesting when looking at the center position. Cleveland does have JC Tretter under contract, but looking at the terms of his deal provides some insight here. There is an out after the 2020 season, so if the two parties go their separate ways there could be a succession plan already in place with the selection of Harris.
