Cleveland looking for second straight win over Detroit

The Cleveland Baseball Club is looking for the second straight win over the visiting Detroit Tigers Saturday night at Progressive Field.

Friday night provided the Cleveland Baseball Club with some optimism heading into their series with the Detroit Tigers as they looked dominant in a 4-1 victory. The combination of Franmil Reyes and Zach Plesac proved too much for Detroit as Cleveland has improved to 3-3 on the year, tying the Kansas City Royals in the record department on the year.

The Cleveland Baseball Club will send Aaron Civale to the mound looking to build off his first start against Detroit last week. Civale allowed 3 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks over 7 innings as he came away with a win. It was the offense that carried Civale in that game as they scored a season-high 9 runs in the contest and avoided a sweep.

Detroit’s pitcher will be the one who was on the wrong side of their loss last week in Detroit, Tarik Skubal. Skubal gave up 2 earned runs in 5.1 innings allowing 4 hits and walking 2 while striking out 4. It was Eddie Rosario who drove in both runs with Skubal on the mound, a RBI single in the 1st and a RBI groundout in the 6th. The Tigers could find themselves in trouble though due to Julio Teheran being a late scratch Friday. Detroit had to use the combination of Derek Holland, Buck Farmer, and Michael Fulmer to get through the game. Fulmer bailed the Tigers out of a full on bullpen game by lasting 4 innings. This should take some pressure of Detroit’s bullpen to perform Saturday and Sunday.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 P.M. at Progressive Field.
