Browns claim Kyle Markway off waivers

The Cleveland Browns have claimed the tight end on waivers after spending time with the Los Angeles Rams.

With the season-ending injury to Stephen Carlson, the Cleveland Browns had to address their depth at the tight end position. The team claimed tight end Kyle Markway off waivers from the Los Angeles Rams. Markway spent time with the Browns last season on the practice squad. The team waived Romeo McKnight in a corresponding move.

While the Browns have three tight ends firmly ahead of their possible fourth tight end in Austin Hooper, Harrison Bryant, and David Njoku, they still need to consider more depth. Carlson was not someone who was going to put up spectacular numbers, but played an important role in blocking and on special teams. In addition to internal options, exploring external is a must. When evaluating this move in particular, it makes a ton of sense to bring someone back who was on the practice squad last season in Markway.
