Browns acquire Chase Winovich from Pats
The Cleveland Browns made a trade Tuesday to bolster their defense. Cleveland has acquired Chase Winovich from the New England Patriots in exchange for Mack Wilson. Both players were not in the long term plans for either team.
Winovich totaled 5.5 sacks in each of his first two seasons but failed to register a sack in 2021 with a drop-off in playing time, seeing just 14% of defensive snaps from 58% the year before.
Chase Winovich should easily fill the role that Takk McKinley played last season as the situational/rotational pass rusher. Cleveland still has to add two starting defensive tackles and a starting defensive end, but adding Winovich to the mix is a good start.
