Becton and Queen to Browns in mock draft

A draft day trade has the Cleveland Browns selecting offensive tackle Mekhi Becton and linebacker Patrick Queen in this mock draft.

A mock draft from CBS Sports has the Cleveland Browns making some interesting moves. One of the moves would probably be very unpopular if it actually happened.

First off let’s get into what the Browns do with 10th overall pick.

Browns take OT Mekhi Becton out of Louisville with the 10th overall pick.

Becoming quite the popular pick as of late, Mekhi Becton to Cleveland at 10 is gaining some traction.

Josh Edwards would add some input in regards to this pick.

I still think Cleveland would favor Georgia’s Andrew Thomas over Becton because of the zone-blocking scheme. However, it fills a big need on the left side as the Browns fill out their offensive line.

The concern with Becton is his size and that he still needs work in regards to his blocking.

Let’s start the insanity. This mock draft has Cleveland trading Odell Beckham Jr. to Minnesota for the 22nd overall pick. After acquiring the pick they go on to select linebacker Patrick Queen out of LSU.

Bryan DeArdo added some reasoning for this selection.

Browns made the pick because they need to do a better job defending Lamar Jackson, who they face twice a year in the AFC North.

While the Browns do need at least one linebacker, drafting a player because of someone else on a different team is hardly a good strategy. Draft players because of their fit in your system and according to what your team needs. Build something from the ground up, not as a direct counter to someone you see twice in 16 games.

The trade part of this seems to be a little bit of wishful thinking. A healthy Odell Beckham Jr. coming off an excellent season could certainly fetch a first rounder. Problem is that does currently describe Beckham. OBJ is currently recovering from offseason surgery and had a disappointing season according to his standards. If Cleveland could somehow pry a first rounder out of someone for Beckham it would be hard to pass up, but that seems to unlikely at this point in time.
