The Cleveland Browns have placed their rookie left tackle on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Jedrick Wills Jr. has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The Browns rookie left tackle has been deemed to be a high risk close contact and that is the reason why he has ended up on the list. Jedrick Wills Jr. could still play Sunday if he continues to test negative.

Kendall Lamm would play if Jedrick Wills Jr. is unable to go.

Obviously it would be optimal if Wills is able to play, but the Browns could manage with Lamm filling in. Cleveland takes on the Jets Sunday and they are not necessarily a strong defensive unit. With that being said, it would be irresponsible to look past them or think they are not a threat considering they beat the Rams last week.

Cavaliers pick up options on four players

The Cleveland Cavaliers have picked up the options on four players.

It appears that the Cleveland Cavaliers want to keep some of their young players and continue to build their roster. The Cavs picked up the options on Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Kevin Porter Jr., and Dylan Windler prior to their opening night victory over the Charlotte Hornets.

It is the fourth year option for Sexton and third-year options for Porter Jr., Garland, and Windler. The decisions to pick up options for Sexton and Garland were an absolute no-brainer. This duo is their staring guard combo and even carried the team to victory in their opener with 49 points and 11 assists between the two.

Porter Jr. showed a ton or promise as a rookie, but his off the court concerns could have given the team some pause over the decision. The second-year guard did not participate in the first game due to personal reasons.

Windler’s option is the intriguing one as he did not make his NBA debut until Wednesday night. Windler only made 1 of 5 shots (1-4 3PT) and finished with 2 steals. It is apparent that the Cavs believe that Windler can be a contributor for the long haul.

Browns sign Michael Dunn to active roster

The Cleveland Browns have signed the guard to their active roster.

After losing Chris Hubbard for the season, the Cleveland Browns have signed Michael Dunn to her active roster.

Hubbard had been filling in for the injured Wyatt Teller, but suffered a season-ending injury in Sunday night’s win over the Giants. Nick Harris replaced Hubbard, but Cleveland still needs a bit more depth. The Browns adding Dunn to their active roster gives the team more options and flexibility in case of another injury on their offensive line.

Ronnie Harrison designated to return from IR

The safety has been designated to return from injured reserve.

The Cleveland Browns will be getting some help in their secondary as they continue their playoff push. Safety Ronnie Harrison has been designated to return from injured reserve after suffering a shoulder injury earlier this season.

Harrison even practiced Wednesday and apparently was not hindered by his previous injury.

This is good news for the Browns. Cleveland’s defense has been a bit of a liability this season even though they have been able to win with it. Ronnie Harrison was playing well prior to his injury and his impending return will be a boost to the Browns secondary.

Cavaliers top Hornets in opener

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 121-114 in their season opener.

Cleveland was without the services of four players Wednesday night, but that did stop the Cavaliers from starting the season out 1-0. The Cavs were able to sprint out to a 21-point lead at the end of the first half and able to hang on just enough to defeat the Hornets 121-114.

All five starters finished with double-digit scoring efforts and at one point led by 24 points. Cleveland led in rebounds (50), assists (34), steals (12), and points in the paint (62). The Cavs did commit 21 turnovers and 22 fouls, but were able to overcome those shortcomings.

Overall the Cavs looked liked a cohesive unit. Was the team a bit sloppy at times? Sure, but that is to be expected in their first regular season game in nine months. Cleveland was excelling in the ball movement department and were not only just passing the ball, but passing the ball decisively.

Welcome to SexLand

This was a phrase that originated prior to last season and maybe it was a bit premature. The combination of Collin Sexton and Darius Garland seem primed to take that next step in year two. Sexton led the Cavaliers in scoring with 27 and Garland was second with 22. One particular area for both players that was in need of improvement was the assist department. Sexton finished with 5 assists and Garland with 6, which is a good sign of progression for both players.

Larry Nance Jr.’s near triple-double

Larry Nance Jr. almost had an opening night triple-double. Nance started in place for Kevin Love and finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists. The 27-year old power forward also added 3 steals and 2 blocks to his final line. What was seen from Nance is that he is more than capable of being in the starting lineup and can produce when called upon.

Oh-Oh-Okoro

Isaac Okoro made his NBA debut Wednesday and played well. Okoro made four of five field goal attempts an finished with a fairly impressive line for a team with four other starters who played well. The Cavaliers rookie finished with 11 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds and should be able to build upon this performance moving forward.

JaVale Mcgee could be an impact player

When it comes to role players off the bench they need one trait in particular, energy. It is safe to say that JaVale McGee has a ton of that. Watching McGee in his Cavaliers debut was a bit eye-opening and he may be more important part of the team than initially thought. McGee just has that bounce you like to see out of a backup big man and he was making plays all over the court. It seems like after his 13 point, 7 rebound performance that McGee could be an impact role player for the Cavs.
