Myles Garrett has highest APY ever for a defender
Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has the highest salary average per year for a defensive player ever, for now.
This is something that could change at any moment, but for the time being Myles Garrett has the highest average per year for any player on the defensive side of the ball ever.
The Cleveland Browns agreed to a five-year contract extension with Garrett that is worth $125 million with $100 million guaranteed. As the ESPN graphic above shows, this APY is higher than Khalil Mack, Aaron Donald, DeMarcus Lawrence and DeForest Buckner.
This goes without saying, but Garrett’s contract could be topped at any moment by another team looking to keep one of their best defenders in town for the long haul. But for now, Myles Garrett has the highest APY for defensive players in the league and it is well deserved.
