Browns take Andrew Thomas at 10 in Rotoworld mock

Another mock draft and another tackle selection for the Cleveland Browns.  Rotoworld’s Thor Nystrom has Cleveland addressing their biggest area of need in the upcoming draft.

Nystrom has slotted Georgia’s Andrew Thomas at 10 to Cleveland. Thomas is the third tackle going in the Top 10 in this mock draft. Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs gets selected by the Giants at four and Jedrick Wills out of Alabama is picked at seven by Carolina.

The other popular selection of Mekhi Becton goes 14th overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports had the Browns taking Becton 10th overall in his latest mock.

Even though some people for some bizarre reason do not realize that offensive tackle is the biggest need in Cleveland, draft analysts do. Hopefully the front office in Cleveland also recognizes this and addresses the position in the draft. Those still holding out hope for Cleveland to trade for Washington’s Trent Williams can move on now. This was more of a Dorsey move than analytically friendly move. What part of an aging left tackle with recurring injury problems and costs a lot would interest Cleveland? None of that sounds all that promising does it?

Free agency is another avenue to take to address the tackle position, but the returns on high priced free agents are typically not worth the money. Especially on the offensive line. There have been multiple offensive lineman signed to big contracts in free agency the past few years and to say they’ve been disappointing overall is an understatement.

Do the smart thing Cleveland and draft a tackle at 10 and move on.
