Browns attempted to claim Royce Freeman
After finding themselves in need of a running back on short notice, the Cleveland Browns turned to waivers.
According a report, the Cleveland Browns submitted a waiver claim for running back Royce Freeman. Freeman was claimed by the Houston Texans who held waiver priority over Cleveland.
This comes after the Browns placed running backs Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Both players tested positive and their status for their game in New England is in question.
The Browns still have D’Ernest Johnson available, although he has been deemed a close contact currently and is still testing negative. Either way, attempting to add Royce Freeman is hardly surprising.
