Zach Plesac will return to the rotation of the Cleveland Baseball Club after they traded Mike Clevinger to the San Diego Padres.
Zach Plesac is set to return to the Cleveland Baseball Club rotation and pitch Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals.
Plesac is taking the spot created by trading Mike Clevinger to the San Diego Padres on Monday.
Plesac has not pitched since August 8th, the date of the infamous incident which saw him leave the team hotel in Chicago. The 25-year old right hander was pitching extremely well through his first three starts with a 1.29 ERA, 0.667 WHIP, and 24 strikeouts in 21 innings this year. This has been an impressive step up in performance for Plesac and part of the reason why Cleveland felt comfortable dealing Clevinger.
Zach Plesac will face a Royals team Tuesday that has not had much success against him. Kansas City is slashing .181/.273/.241/.514 in 59 at-bats against Plesac. Two notable names (Whit Merrifield, Alex Gordon) are a combined 4-22 with 5 strikeouts. Jorge Soler has the only home run off of Plesac, but is 1-7 against him with 4 strikeouts otherwise. Hunter Dozier is the only other Royals batter with an extra-base hit against Plesac, going 2-9 with a triple.
