Triston McKenzie will start for the Cleveland Baseball Club as they look for their third consecutive win over the Detroit Tigers.
Not too long ago Triston McKenzie made his first career start and faced the Detroit Tigers. McKenzie was absolutely filthy as he allowed 1 run on 2 hits and struck out 10 batters. The 23-year old right hander will look for a repeat performance when he faces the Tigers again Saturday.
Triston McKenzie will be looking to bounce back after a rough outing in Minnesota which saw him allow 5 runs on 3 hits in just 4.1 innings. The Twins hit 3 home runs off of McKenzie which is not ideal, but luckily Detroit is not the same caliber of team as Minnesota. Only two Tigers batters registered a hit off of Triston McKenzie, Jeimer Candelario and Willi Castro. Miguel Cabrera, Issac Paredes, Victor Reyes, and Austin Romine combined to go 0-9 with 6 strikeouts.
Spencer Turnbull will be starting for the Tigers and this could lead to a good night at the plate for Cleveland. As a team Cleveland is slashing .375/.425/.568/.993 off of Turnbull. Mike Freeman is 3-7 and Cesar Hernandez is 2-6 with a double. Oscar Mercado is 5-15 with 2 doubles and Tyler Naquin is 5-11 with a double. Jose Ramirez is 6-13 with 2 doubles and a triple. Carlos Santana is 8-17 with 3 doubles. There are two notable names who have not had the same offensive success against Turnbull as their teammates, Francisco Lindor and Roberto Perez. Lindor is 3-17 with 2 doubles while Perez is 1-11. Perhaps another shot at Turnbull is just what these two need.
