Cleveland wins second straight game over Tigers
The Cleveland Baseball Club defeated the Detroit Tigers by the slightest of margins, making it their second straight win over Detroit.
It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win. The Cleveland Baseball Club came away with a 1-0 victory over the Tigers, making it two straight wins over Detroit.
Zach Plesac started for Cleveland and was absolutely dominant. Plesac scattered 5 hits over 7.2 innings and struck out 11 batters. Three of Plesac’s strikeouts came during his Immaculate Inning and it perfectly encapsulated just how well he pitched Friday.
After Zach Plesac exited the game he was relieved by James Karinchak who would of course strike out a batter. Karinchak worked out of trouble with two men on and two outs in the inning. After initially walking Willi Castro, Karinchak bounced back and struck out Miguel Cabrera to end the inning.
Brad Hand came on in the 9th and allowed 1 hit and struck out 2 batters to earn his 13th save of the season.
While Zach Plesac was being his dominant self on the mound, Cleveland had another tough time at the plate Friday. Cleveland only managed 5 hits in the game and were only able to score 1 run. Luckily 1 run is all it takes to come away with a win. Their lone run came in the 5th inning. Delino DeShields hit a 1 out triple to put Francisco Lindor in a perfect position to drive him in. Lindor delivered with a sacrifice fly and DeShields came in to score.
Jose Ramirez had 2 hits on the night and it seems he is heating up. Ramirez homered twice the night before and this could be the perfect time to get hot as the playoffs are not that far away. Coming into the postseason swinging a hot bat could make the difference when they do start their playoff run.
