Triston McKenzie sets new team strikeout record
The Cleveland Baseball Club starting pitcher set a new team record Sunday.
Step aside Corey Kluber, this record belongs to Triston McKenzie now. McKenzie struck out eight straight White Sox hitters Sunday and set a new team record in the process. Kluber held the record for just over seven years prior to McKenzie setting the new mark.
It has been a bit of a disappointing campaign in 2021 for Triston McKenzie as command and walk issues have plagued most of his starts. Seeing McKenzie and strike out 10 batters total including the eight straight is a good sign moving forward for the young pitcher. Cleveland needs McKenzie to step up and be a regular arm in the rotation. If McKenzie can continue to build upon this performance, things could be a bit more stable in the rotation than they appeared to be just a few days ago.
