Cleveland swept in doubleheader by Royals

It was not a good day for the Cleveland Baseball Club as they were swept by the Kansas City Royals in a doubleheader at home Monday. Things were much better for the Cleveland Baseball Club over the weekend as they took two of three from the New York Yankees, combining to score 22 runs in back-to-back games. Unfortunately they did not enjoy the same success at home Monday in a doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals. Cleveland dropped both games Monday as they fell to 73-76 on the year. The first game was a 7-2 loss as Triston McKenzie was lit up by the Royals. Kansas City hit three two-run homers off of McKenzie as he allowed seven runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out four in just 4.1 innings. Cleveland's offense managed six hits in the contest with both runs scoring i...

Cleveland snaps losing streak with 3-1 win over Twins

The Cleveland Baseball Club came away with a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Twins in the first game of their doubleheader on Tuesday. After getting swept by the Milwaukee Brewers at home this past weekend, the Cleveland Baseball Club was desperate for a win. Desperation prevailed Tuesday afternoon as they managed to snap their losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Twins in their first of two games Tuesday. All was not necessarily well early on as the Twins took an early 1-0 lead in the 3rd as Andrelton Simmons doubled home Ben Rortvedt. Luckily this did not send Triston McKenzie into a spiral as that was the only run the Twins scored. McKenzie would allow just three hits and one walk on the day while striking out seven batters. Cleveland got a boost in the 5th inning as Bradle...

Cleveland one hit in 3-0 loss to Twins

The Cleveland Baseball Club only managed one hit in a 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins. On one hand it was an unimpressive effort offensively for the Cleveland Baseball Club. On the other it was a spectacular start for Twins pitcher Joe Ryan. Ryan was perfect through 6.1 innings until Amed Rosario singled to left for Cleveland's first and only hit of the game. Rosario's single was the only baserunner Cleveland had for the entire game. Cleveland did not fair any better against Minnesota relievers Caleb Thielbar and Tyler Duffey, striking out three times in six at-bats. This was the second straight game which the Twins came away with a 3-0 win at Progressive Field, the final score for Wednesday being an exact duplicate of Tuesday. Triston McKenzie started for Cleveland and was impressi...

Triston McKenzie placed on IL, Logan Allen recalled

The Cleveland Baseball Club has placed pitcher Triston McKenzie on the injured list while recalling Logan Allen from Triple-A. After back-to-back spectacular performances Triston McKenzie is landing on the injured list with right shoulder fatigue. The move is retroactive to Sunday.  https://twitter.com/ZackMeisel/status/1430617815258746887?s=20 In his place Cleveland has recalled Logan Allen from Triple-A. Allen has not enjoyed the same success as McKenzie as he has a 9.13 ERA and 1.809 WHIP in seven starts this season. The minors were not any kinder to the 24-year old as those numbers were 7.95 and 1.849 respectively.  Hopefully McKenzie's stay on the IL is short and can return to the team soon. The recent uptick in performance from the young starter has been a great step in his dev...

Triston McKenzie strikes out 8 in win over Angels

Triston McKenzie struck out eight Angels batters in the Cleveland Baseball Club's 5-1 win over the visiting Los Angeles Angels. It is Triston McKenzie's world, we are just living in it. In his first start since flirting with perfection, McKenzie faced the Los Angeles Angels and picked up where he left off. The 24-year old right hander was simply too much for the Los Angeles lineup as he struck out eight batters over seven innings, including three swinging strikeouts of AL MVP favorite Shohei Ohtani. https://twitter.com/PitchingNinja/status/1429199446055788547?s=20 Triston McKenzie allowed just two hits in the contest, those hits coming in the 3rd and 6th innings. A leadoff walk of Jose Iglesias in the 8th led to Sticks exiting the game. Iglesias would eventually come around to score...

Triston McKenzie spectacular vs Tigers

The Cleveland Baseball Club pitcher dominated the Detroit Tigers as he struck out 11 batters in 8 innings with 7.2 of them perfect. Absolutely dominant, that is the way to describe the performance from Triston McKenzie Sunday afternoon. McKenzie faced the Detroit Tigers on the road and all eyes were on someone else who happened to be in the other dugout, Miguel Cabrera. The fans who swarmed Comerica Park were expecting to see a historical moment from one of the best sluggers in the game, his 500th career home run. While Miggy still is waiting to achieve that notable feat, the fans in attendance nearly saw a different historical moment, a perfect game. Triston McKenzie was mowing down batter after batter in Detroit. There was not a batter in the Tigers lineup who could touch anything th...

Cleveland drops third straight game in Toronto

The Cleveland Baseball Club lost their third consecutive game to the Toronto Blue Jays as they were shutout in a 3-0 loss. The trip north of the border did not go well for the Cleveland Baseball Club as they lost their third straight game, this time a 3-0 loss. Cleveland managed just three hits in in the contest off of Ross Stripling. Stripling has not had a great season and this could have been an opportunity for Cleveland to put up some big numbers, but they collectively failed to score a run. Amed Rosario (1-3), Franmil Reyes (1-3), and Owen Miller (1-3) were the only Cleveland batters to register a hit. Rosario and Reyes also reached via base on balls in the contest. Bradley Zimmer, Myles Straw, Bobby Bradley, Harold Ramirez, Oscar Mercado, Austin Hedges, Ernie Clement combined to ...

Cleveland uses 13 hits to top Chicago 12-11

The Cleveland Baseball Club did the unthinkable as they managed to outhit the Chicago White Sox and come away with a win. Considering the overall lack of offense for the Cleveland Baseball Club this season, coming out on top of a slugfest did not seem to be a likely scenario. However, that was the case Saturday night as they topped the Chicago White Sox 12-11. Cleveland used 13 hits including three home runs, six doubles, and a triple en route to scoring 12 runs. Every single batter in the lineup got a hit with Amed Rosario, Jose Ramirez, Harold Ramirez, and Austin Hedges even collecting two. Homering in the contest were Amed Rosario, Austin Hedges, and Owen Miller. It was the first career home run for Miller who took Dallas Keuchel deep in the 5th. Keuchel would exit in the very...

Cleveland avoids sweep, beat Rays 3-2

The Cleveland Baseball Club avoided being swept by the Tampa Bay Rays with a 3-2 win, snapping an 11-game losing streak against the club. The series between the Cleveland Baseball Club and the Tampa Bay Rays had not been going well through the first three games. Tampa took the first three games with Cleveland facing the possibility of being swept in a four-game series Sunday. Even when things appeared to be heading in that direction, Cleveland rallied late and was able to pull ahead of the Rays and secure the all too elusive victory against Tampa with a slim 3-2 victory. With the win Cleveland snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Rays. Down by a run in the bottom of the 1st it was Cesar Hernandez who continued his power surge. Hernandez launched a solo home run to tie the game. It ...
