New England Patriots defeat New York Jets on Monday Night Football

It took a 4th quarter comeback, but the New England Patriots came out on top against the New York Jets. The comeback was impressive, but no team should be in that situation against this version of the Jets. New York just is not any good and being coached by Adam Gase just makes things worse.

The Jets stink and the Patriots have struggled all season long, at least it was an exciting finish to a game that was probably unappealing to most.

Tony La Russa and the Chicago White Sox

The decision by the Chicago White Sox to hire Tony La Russa was controversial from the start. La Russa has not managed in almost a decade and the White Sox embody everything he isn’t. The White Sox are a young fun team and La Russa is the complete opposite of that. Before making their managerial change Chicago was on the rise and possibly an appealing destination for free agents. That no longer appears to be the case as pitcher Marcus Stroman has seemingly crossed the White Sox off his list of potential landing spots.

If one player thinks this way there are more than likely others. The White Sox may have shot themselves in the foot with this managerial hire.

Steven Cohen and his championship aspirations with the New York Mets

The New York Mets are now owned by the richest owner in baseball Steve Cohen. As with any change of ownership in spots there are championship aspirations. Cohen stated Tuesday that if the Mets do not win a championship within the next three to five years it would be disappointing.

The Mets have a good core and could possibly be in the running to acquire Cleveland Baseball Club shortstop Francisco Lindor. Acquiring Lindor would have to be the first of many moves to in an attempt to return to the playoffs. The Mets seem to be most of the way there, they just need to shape the rest of the roster through trades and signing players in free agency.

Francisco Lindor to the Mets?

The Cleveland Baseball Club will be looking their dynamic shortstop and want the New York Mets to be involved.

Could Francisco Lindor end up in Queens? That is a possibility as the Cleveland Baseball Club wants the New York Mets to be involved in trade talks per Jon Morosi.

For some the Mets are a bit of surprise, but the fact of the matter is that they should not be. The team was recently purchased by Steve Cohen who just so happens to be the richest owner in baseball. Typically new owners like to make a splash of some type and there is not many moves that would be bigger than trading for Francisco Lindor. It is possible that Cohen and the Mets can be acquire and extend a premier talent. This certainly qualifies as a big splash type move.

Looking at the Mets roster they have players that they could move to make a trade work. Jeff McNeil, JD Davis, Brandon Nimmo, Amed Rosario, and Dom Smith do come to mind. That is before mentioning some younger options in Andres Gimenez and a prospect like Ronny Mauricio. Both were included in a recent trade suggestion from the SNY Twitter account.

If the Mets were to package some of the above mentioned players along with prospects for Francisco Lindor it would be a trade that works out for both sides. Cleveland would be able to get some MLB quality talent and prospects while New York clears some of the logjam that exists on their current roster.

When evaluating the situation from afar the two teams seem like the perfect trade partners. The only question is whether or not the two sides can agree to a deal. Steve Cohen did not get to where he is today by making bad deals and the Cleveland Baseball Club has a good track record in trades similar to this. A deal sending Francisco Lindor to Queens seems almost destined to happen. This will not be the last time the Mets are mentioned as a possible suitor for the soon to be 27-year old shortstop.
