Cleveland rotation is getting things done

The trio of Shane Bieber, Mike Clevinger, and Carlos Carrasco have been fantastic in their first starts for the Cleveland Baseball Club. Coming into the season everyone knew that the strength of the Cleveland Baseball Club was the starting rotation. Through the first three games that seems to be holding up as they have been excellent. https://twitter.com/ZackMeisel/status/1287473992429961217?s=20 That's 4 runs allowed in 19 innings for those wondering. An extremely impressive number considering they were facing a Royals team that can give most teams headaches. A combination of contact and speed can make even the best pitchers in baseball falter. Cleveland was able to stifle them for the most part and limit the Royals damage. Nearly half of the strikeouts came from Shane Bi...

Justin Verlander out for season

Houston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander will miss the rest of the season due to an elbow injury according to reports. The Houston Astros were dealt a big blow. According to a report from Chandler Rome of The Houston Chronicle, Justin Verlander will miss the rest of the season. https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/1287499654712762368?s=20 Justin Verlander pitched Opening Day for Houston, allowing, two runs in six innings with seven strikeouts. Replacing one of the best pitchers in baseball will not be easy for Houston. Houston already lost Gerrit Cole in free agency to the New York Yankees, now they have to attempt to navigate this season without their best pitcher. Currently Houston has Zack Greinke and Lance McCullers Jr. to rely on, the others are not seasoned...

Corey Kluber exits after 1 inning in Rangers debut

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Corey Kluber had an early exit in his team debut as he was dealing with right shoulder tightness. Corey Kluber did not have the start he wanted in his Texas Rangers debut. After just 1 inning of work the two-time Cy Young Award winner had to leave due to injury. https://twitter.com/Sullivan_Ranger/status/1287464964849045505?s=20 Kluber was dealing with shoulder tightness and will be examined on Monday, This is not a great sign for Texas' recently acquired right hander. Leaving after only 1 inning and the fact it was getting progressively tighter is not something that Texas wants to hear. Even if Kluber is able to come back soon this will be a situation that will require monitoring all season long. Corey Kluber has shown the toughness from tim...

Zach Plesac recalled by Cleveland

Right handed starting pitcher Zach Plesac has been recalled from the Alternate Training Site by the Cleveland Baseball Club. At one point or another Cleveland was going to be recalling pitcher Zach Plesac from the Alternate Training Site. That time is apparently now as the move has been made. https://twitter.com/PJFOX8/status/1287111780418887682?s=20 This move corresponds with outfielder Tyler Naquin being placed on the 10-day IL with a fractured toe. Plesac was initially left off the roster due to the team recalling Daniel Johnson to take Naquin's spot in the lineup. Along with Aaron Civale, Zach Plesac rounds out the Cleveland rotation as their fourth and fifth starters. Civale and Plesac beat out Adam Plutko for a rotation spot with Plutko ending up in the bullpen. ...

Tyler Naquin placed on injured list

The Cleveland Baseball Club has placed outfielder Tyler Naquin on the 10-day injured list. This is a phrase that Cleveland fans have become quite familiar with over the past few years. Tyler Naquin has been placed on the injured list. This time it is due to a fractured toe he suffered after fouling a ball off in an exhibition game against Pittsburgh. The move is retroactive to July 22nd. https://twitter.com/PJFOX8/status/1287111488440852487?s=20 The team already recalled Daniel Johnson to take his place as left handed bat in the lineup. Currently the team has Johnson and Bradley Zimmer as left handed outfielders with the switch-hitting Greg Allen in the mix. There are options for Terry Francona which makes it a little bit easier to put together lineup. The problem with Tyle...

James Karinchak is Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn

Cleveland Baseball Club relief pitcher James Karinchak is embracing his inner Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn from the movie Major League. Give 'em the heater. That is something that James Karinchak is hoping to hear a lot this season. Maybe he will a bit more considering he has reportedly decided to change his number to 99. https://twitter.com/BenAxelrod/status/1286683559864999942?s=20 https://twitter.com/ZackMeisel/status/1286684188863799296?s=20 As noted by Zack Meisel of The Athletic, James Karinchak already warms up to "Wild Thing". Fully leaning into becoming Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn is exactly what this team needs right now. Cleveland's bullpen is a clear area of concern, maybe they can all rally around (or together) Karinchak and his embracement of Ricky "Wild Thin...

Expanded playoffs is good news for Cleveland

Major League Baseball is expanding the playoffs for the 2020 season and that is good news for the Cleveland Baseball Club. The playoffs seem to be more than just a possibility for the Cleveland Baseball Club, they should be a certainty. Major League Baseball is expanding the playoffs for the 2020 season from 10 teams to 16 teams, giving Cleveland a much better chance to make the postseason. https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1286416569262891009?s=20 While the Minnesota Twins are the favorite to win the American League Central, Cleveland can now make the playoffs if the finish in second place. Cleveland's 93-69 record last season would have secured a playoff berth. Even if the team does not finish in second there are two more spots based entirely off of record. Cleveland had ...

Cleveland Baseball Club’s bullpen is a wild card

The bullpen for the Cleveland Baseball Club appears to be a gigantic question mark and possible weakness as they begin the 2020 MLB season. When it comes to the Cleveland Baseball Club the rotation is solid. Their lineup has some great players such as Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez, and Carlos Santana as well as some interesting pieces in the outfield. With all that being said it is their bullpen which is a complete wild card. The loss of Emmanuel Clase due to an injury and then a PED suspension is not helping matters whatsoever. Cleveland's best options Brad Hand had a great first half to 2019, but the second half was less than stellar. Opponents slashed .200/.265/.304/.569 off of Hand in his first 39 appearances last season with nine earned runs in 37.1 innings. That ballooned...
