Cavaliers miss out on NBA Awards

The Cleveland Cavaliers took a massive step forward last season in their ascension from the basement of the Eastern Conference, but did not result in any awards for members of the organization. Award winner after award winner was announced without any Cavs taking home the respective honor. Up for Most Improved Player, Darius Garland finished in third behind winner Ja Morant and second place Dejounte Murray. Garland's rise in the wake of multiple teammates suffering season-ending injuries propelled the Cavs to postseason play without LeBron James for the first time in a quarter century. In a very controversial decision Evan Mobley finished in second place for Rookie of the Year with Toronto's Scottie Barnes being named the winner. The 15 vote differential is the smallest ever in th...

Cavaliers lose to Grizzlies 110-106

The Cleveland Cavaliers were able to keep things competitive with the Memphis Grizzlies, but fell short late in a four-point loss. It was a battle between Cleveland and Memphis Tuesday night, the game was even tied at 104 with just just 36.7 seconds remaining. A Cavaliers turnover plus a couple of made baskets by the Grizzlies resulted in Cleveland being on the short end of a 110-106 final score. The Cavs put together an incredible effort against Memphis, going back and forth for most of the game. Unfortunately close losses in this manner happen for every team and that was the case for the Cavaliers Tuesday night. Leading the Cavs in scoring was Darius Garland who finished with a game-high 27 points, going toe-to-toe with Memphis' Ja Morant in the contest. Garland was 9-26 from the ...

Cavaliers lose to Grizzlies in season opener 132-121

The Cleveland Cavaliers traveled to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies for their season opener, but were unable to come away with a win. Going into Memphis and winning the season opener against the Grizzlies was always going to be a tall task for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The task was too tall as the Cavs were on the wrong side of a 132-121 final score. Cleveland was actually able to exit the 1st quarter with the game tied at 32, after that there were issues. Memphis outscored Cleveland 41-29 in the 2nd quarter, more than enough to carry the Grizzlies to an easy victory. While the Cavaliers did outscore Memphis 60-59 in the second half, it was the 2nd quarter that did them in. The Cavaliers managed to have an edge in assists (38-28), mostly coming form Darius Garland (12) and Ricky Rub...

Cavaliers continue road trip in Memphis

The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to snap their current two-game losing streak as they head to Memphis to take on the 2-5 Grizzlies. Wednesday night did not give the Cleveland Cavaliers the result they were looking for as they lost their second straight game to the Orlando Magic. Now the Cavs (4-4) will be heading Memphis as they look to get back above .500 against the 2-5 Grizzlies. In seven games the Grizzlies are averaging 106.9 points while giving up 112.1 points per game. Things may be different if they still had the services of Ja Morant. An ankle injury sidelined Morant back at the end of December and it has obviously played a factor in Memphis' performance. Morant's absence will give the depleted Cavaliers a better chance of coming away with a win. Dillon Brooks is th...
