Cavaliers defeat Nuggets 99-87

The Cleveland Cavaliers went into Denver and came away with a surprising 99-87 win over the Nuggets. When the clock hit 0.0 there was a double-digit differential on the scoreboard and somehow the team that won was the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs were in control of this game from pretty much the start, trailing by only 1 point early in the contest with only a couple of times where Denver tied the game. Wins against superior teams, they happen. However wins against those teams where the Cavs control from the beginning, not that common. There is one specific area that pops out when evaluating the shooting performance of both teams. Both the Cavaliers and Nuggets were not proficient from three. Cleveland went 7-25 while Denver missed 29 of their 38 attempts from deep. The player of th...

Cavaliers cruise by Hawks 101-95

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Atlanta Hawks 101-95 as they managed to get their first win of the 2021-22 season. Unlike the night before, the second half was not the enemy of the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs outscored the Atlanta Hawks 49-40 en route to their first win of the year. It was not a particularly stellar shooting night from either team with Atlanta making 38.4% of their shots and Cleveland 41.6%. In comparison to team averages so far this season, they would rank in the bottom third of the NBA in field goal percentage for this contest. The attempts from three-point range were not any better as Atlanta was 29.4% (10-34) while the Cavaliers made just seven of 28 (25%). Even with the shooting struggles it was the performance of an unlikely hero which saved the day, Ri...

Kevin Love buyout may not be likely

Even after the Cleveland Cavaliers added another seven footer, a buyout of Kevin Love does not appear to be happening anytime soon. When the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Lauri Markkanen in a surprise move over the weekend, the rumors about a potential buyout of Kevin Love were rampant. Some reports, now known to be inaccurate, speculated that a buyout was close. As time went on that proved to not be the case as ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski has reported. A story from Wojnarowski appearing on ESPN stated that Love's agent, Jeff Schwartz, has said his client has no interest in a buyout at this time. Considering that Love is slated to make $60+ million over the remainder of his deal, a buyout wouldn't be in his best interest financially. Muddying things up a bit is the report from Sam Amic...

Odell Beckham Jr. won’t start camp on PUP list

The Cleveland Browns superstar wide receiver has passed his physical and will not begin training camp on the PUP list. Good news for the Cleveland Browns and Odell Beckham Jr. The superstar receiver has passed his physical and will be ready for training camp avoiding the physically unable to perform list. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1420062884147699712?s=20 This is a great sign to see for Beckham after his 2020 season came to a premature end due to a torn ACL. Odell Beckham Jr. only appeared in seven games last season, catching only 23 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns. A combination of a new offense and an apparent lack of chemistry between himself and Baker Mayfield led to the low season totals prior to his season being cut short.

Collin Sexton “very available” in trade talks

The Cleveland Cavaliers guard is "very available" in trade talks according to reports. This can be filed under two subjects, not surprising and hard to swallow for those who have hard time accepting what a certain Cleveland Cavaliers player is. That player? Collin Sexton. A report from Jason Lloyd of The Athletic (subscription required) has stated that the the former eighth overall pick is available in trade talks. Lloyd was discussing the possibility of moving Kevin Love this summer when Sexton's name came up. A deal that might make more sense for the Cavs is bundling Love with Collin Sexton, who I’ve been told is “very available” this summer. Jason Lloyd on the availability of Collin Sexton When discussing a the possibility of pairing Kevin Love and Collin Sext...

Kevin Love has not requested a trade

The Cavs veteran has not requested a trade at this time. The Cleveland Cavaliers may end up trading Kevin Love this offseason, but a trade request has not been made according to reports. Sam Amico of Hoops Wire reported last week that the Cavs will attempt to facilitate a trade of Love prior to next season. Amico also added that Love has not requested a trade at this time. The fact of the matter is that the Cavs have needed to move on from Kevin Love for some time. Not only because the team is one of the worst in the league, but the Cavaliers need to finally close the book on their runs to The Finals. It really seems like the team is trying to cling to what was rather than realizing they are no longer close to being anything resembling a good basketball team. It is beyond time ...

Cavs should pursue CJ McCollum

The Cleveland Cavaliers should look to shake up their roster and pursue the Portland Trail Blazers guard via trade. It's another season in the second post-LeBron era and they are not anywhere closer to being relevant. The team has made moves in attempt to build something new and different, a team not necessarily reliant on one player, but a core of players. While their attempts have resulted in productive NBA players on the team, it simply has not made a dent in the returning to the contention arena. Like other teams who have had their season end already, Cleveland needs to evaluate their roster and determine who they should build around and who they can let go. There is no doubt that the Cavs need to shake things up on their roster and that brings us to the rumor that popped up over t...

Cavaliers snap 11-game losing streak with 102-94 win

The Cleveland Cavaliers finally ended their 11-game losing streak with a win over the Boston Celtics. It's over, it's finally over. The Cleveland Cavaliers finally ended their losing streak with a 102-94 win over the visiting Boston Celtics. Cleveland's losing streak was up to 11 after a loss to the Indiana Pacers Monday. While there are still some issues that exist with the team, the Cavaliers were not completely ready to mail in the final few games of the season. It was a surprising 30-point performance from Kevin Love which led the Cavaliers scoring effort. This was the first time that Love scored 30 points in a game this season and only the second time eclipsing 20 points. Love made 6 of 9 three-pointers and went 10-16 overall while adding four points at the free throw line. Th...

Where do the Cavaliers go from here?

The 2020-2021 NBA season is coming to a close for the Cleveland Cavaliers and there are a lot more questions than answers. Kudos to anyone who can sit and watch the Cleveland Cavaliers and not constantly curse at their television. To call watching this version of the Cavs an exercise in frustration is extremely generous. This incarnation of the Cavaliers is unwatchable most of the time and leads to a lot more questions than answers. The fact that there is one player in particular which has divided the fanbase is not helping matters, but we will get to him in a little bit. Let's start with the elephant in the room. The whole Kevin Love situation Kevin Love has to go plain and simple. Love will always be praised for his contributions during the competitive years and presence during...

Cavaliers throttled by Trail Blazers

The Cleveland Cavaliers were absolutely demolished from the by the visiting Portland Trail Blazers 141-105. After the 1st quarter things seemed to be going fine for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs were only down 1 point against the significantly better Portland Trail Blazers and the game might have been competitive. Unfortunately the 1st quarter was the outlier as Portland outscored Cleveland 112-77 over the next three quarters. The Trail Blazers scored 35 or more points in quarters 2-4 while Cleveland did not break 30 once in the contest. Cleveland was simply not able to keep up for the majority of the game and it shows in the final score. Kevin Love was the leading scorer for the Cavaliers, finishing with 18 points on 7-14 from the floor including 4-10 from three. Love also hol...
