Cleveland out-homered by White Sox

Cleveland Baseball Club pitching surrendered four home runs to the bats of the Chicago White Sox in an 8-5 loss on Tuesday. The good news, Cleveland managed to get some hits off of White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon. The bad news, Chicago pummeled Cleveland's pitching in what ended up as an 8-5 loss. Zach Plesac was the pitcher for Cleveland and while he did pitch better than last time, it still was not great. Plesac gave up 6 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings. The White Sox were not fooled by what Plesac had to offer and simply made him pay. Tim Anderson and Jose Abreu both homered twice off of Pleasc, both solo shots. Abreu would homer later off of Sam Hentges while Yasmani Grandal sent a Cal Quantrill pitch into the stands. Cleveland's offense kept things a bit more competitive in thi...

Cleveland takes on visiting White Sox

The Cleveland Baseball Club is poised to take on the Chicago White Sox at home in a two game series starting Tuesday at 6:10 P.M. In their last matchup it was the Cleveland Baseball Club taking the final game against the White Sox in Chicago. That will not be the focus of Tuesday's game. The focus will be how Cleveland's lineup adjust to facing Carlos Rodon who no-hit the club last week. This is Rodon's first start since the no-hitter and Cleveland will get a chance for revenge. Zach Plesac will start for Cleveland and he will be looking for a rebound start Tuesday. Plesac was the starter against Rodon and was hit hard early in the game. The White Sox knocked Plesac out in the 1st inning after allowing 6 runs on 7 hits in just two-thirds of an inning. Based off of Plesac's career hi...

Thursday's afternoon matchup with the Chicago White Sox provided the bounce back they needed as they ended up with 8 hits leading to 4 runs in their two-run victory. Aaron Civale was the Cleveland starter, pitching significantly better than Zach Plesac in the previous game. Civale would allow only 1 run on 5 hits in addition to striking out 4 in 6 innings of work. Cleveland found themselves down 1-0 early and it took a little bit for the team to respond, but they did in a big way. Jose Ramirez came up to bat in the 6th and promptly launched a two-...

Aaron Civale starts in final game against White Sox

The Cleveland Baseball Club turns to the 25-year old right hander as they look to split the series with the Chicago White Sox. The Cleveland Baseball Club is in need of a bounce back in the worst way. Wednesday night saw the team get no hit by Carlos Rodon of the Chicago White Sox and the low end of their season should have been met with that performance. While Cleveland is looking for their offense to improve Thursday they will be entrusting Aaron Civale as their staring pitcher in their final game in Chicago. Aaron Civale has been lock solid through his first two starts this season. Civale is sporting an ERA of 2.45 and WHIP of 0.545 in in 14.2 innings this season. These numbers are more similar to his rookie campaign than his 12 starts in 2020. It is worth mentioning that Civale...

Cleveland gets no hit in Chicago

The Cleveland Baseball Club was no hit by Chicago White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon in a lopsided 8-0 loss at Guaranteed Rate Field. Major League Baseball has its second no-hitter of 2021. Carlos Rodon absolutely dominated the Cleveland Baseball Club lineup with 7 strikeouts in his 9 innings of work. In fact, Rodon was 8 and 1/3 of an inning into a Perfect Game until he hit Roberto Perez in the Top of the 9th. The hit batter did not impact Rodon as he finished off the no-no. For Cleveland, Zach Plesac was their starting pitcher and it did not go well. Plesac was not able to get out of the 1st inning, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits including a three-run homer from Yermin Mercedes. Even when Plesac left the game in the 1st Chicago was still able to score. Tyler Stephan relieved Plesac and all...

Zach Plesac gets the call Wednesday vs White Sox

In search of their second straight win, Cleveland will hand the ball over to Zach Plesac Wednesday. Zach Plesac has been impressive in his first two starts of the season. Compiling a 1.38 ERA, 0.846 WHIP, and a low 6.9 K/9. Plesac will be looking to build upon his last start where he allowed 3 hits in 7 innings against Detroit. Some key bats for the White Sox do not have a good track record against Zach Plesac. Jose Abreu is 2-11 with 3 strikeouts, Yoan Moncada is 3-12 with 4 strikeouts, Lui...

Costly error in 9th leads to 4-3 Cleveland loss

An untimely throwing error lead to a run scoring for the Chicago White Sox in the 9th. The bottom of the 9th is an awful time for a throwing error to occur, but that is what happened for the Cleveland Baseball Club Monday. Yu Chang, making his seventh appearance at first base in his career threw wide of second base on what should have been an inning ending double play. The ball got far enough away for Nick Madrigal to come around to score and end the game. https://twitter.com/whitesox/status/1381810226362515459?s=20 This is not something to hammer Chang for all that much. As mentioned above, Chang was making his seventh career appearance at first base, a position he is pretty much learning on the fly. This is just part of the growing pains of a player learning a new position, ...

Fresh off a sweep of the Detroit Tigers, Cleveland takes on the Chicago White Sox. Chicago is one of two favorites to win the division, setting up a much anticipated series between the two clubs. Getting the start for Cleveland in Game 1 is the young Triston McKenzie. Triston McKenzie appeared in a game for Cleveland prior, allowing 1 run on 2 hits in 3.2 innings of relief. McKenzie struck out 5 batters while walking 4, not necessarily a great outing. Cleveland and Triston McKenzie will be hoping for a better outing on Monday....

The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner takes the mound as the Cleveland Baseball Club takes on the Chicago White Sox. It is time for the Cleveland Baseball Club to continue a significantly more difficult part of their schedule as they take on the Chicago White Sox Tuesday. Good thing for them they can call on reigning AL Cy Young winner Shane Bieber to start Game 2 in Chicago. Shane Bieber is 0-1 on the year, but don't let the record fool you. Bieber has stuck out 24 batters in just 12.1 innings pitched this season, which leads all of baseball. Bieber's last start came against the Royals on Wednesday as he came away with a no-decision in the Cleveland win. Bieber allowed 2 runs on 3 hits with 12 strikeouts, the issue being the 4 walks in the game. The 25-year old pitche...
