Cleveland splits back-to-back doubleheaders

The Cleveland Baseball Club split their back-to-back doubleheaders with the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox at home. It was a daunting task facing the Cleveland Baseball Club coming into Sunday. Following the postponement of Saturday's game with the Toronto Blue Jays it set up an uncommon occurrence in baseball, playing doubleheaders on consecutive days. A doubleheader with the Chicago White Sox was already scheduled for Monday due to a previous postponement. It wasn't easy, but Cleveland managed to split the batch of doubleheaders. Funny enough, Cleveland lost the first game of each doubleheaders while winning the second. It was a 4-1 loss early on Sunday and a 6-5 win against Toronto. Chicago won the first game 8-6 in extras, eight innings, while Cleveland came away with ...

Cleveland begins back-to-back doubleheaders

The Cleveland Baseball Club begins a set of back-to-back doubleheaders Sunday. Fans of the Cleveland Baseball Club will be treated to at a minimum 28 innings of baseball over the next two days. That is due to playing back-to-back doubleheaders on Sunday and Monday. Cleveland plays the Toronto Blue Jays twice on Sunday before hosting the Chicago White Sox Monday. In fact, Cleveland will be playing five consecutive seven inning games counting Friday's weather shortened 11-2 loss and if none of these games go to extras. This could prove to be an exciting Memorial Day weekend for the Cleveland Baseball Club or an all out disaster depending on the results. Toronto was more than capable of taking Game 1 and the White Sox are leading the division for a reason. It will not be easy couple o...

White Sox City Connect jerseys are perfect

I am someone who can appreciate a good jersey, especially an alternate one. Having an alternate jersey that looks good is the perfect addition to the uniform set. The Chicago White Sox unveiled their Nike City Connect jerseys and they are absolutely perfect. https://twitter.com/MLB/status/1398287607537209345?s=20 Having the black jersey with white pinstripes is just a great inverse of their usual white with black pinstripes. Instead of the usual Sox on the hat it is Chi. Across the chest is Southside in the familiar Sox font. The numbers also appear in the same font. It is just great to see a team come out with an alternate jersey that is not underwhelming or a complete letdown. Even though I am not a White Sox fan, I can admit that these jerseys are flawless.

Cleveland takes final game of series with White Sox

The Cleveland Baseball Club took the final game of their three game road series with the Chicago White Sox . After a disappointing outing on Saturday, the Cleveland Baseball Club needed a rebound performance if they were going to win their series with the Chicago White Sox. That is just what they got as a combination of good pitching and a couple of long balls gave Cleveland a 5-0 victory. Zach Plesac was Cleveland's starter and he was able to limit the White Sox bats this time around after being pummeled the previous two times. Chicago managed 3 hits and reached base 4 times on walks with Plesac on the mound, but were unable to score. Considering that Plesac allowed 12 runs in his previous 5.2 innings against the White Sox this was a huge win. When Cleveland was up to bat it w...

Cleveland turns to Zach Plesac Sunday vs Chicago

The Cleveland Baseball Club still has a chance to come away with a series win in Chicago. The good thing about baseball is that enough games are played that an ugly loss like Saturday's can be forgotten completely with a win in the next game. That is exactly what the Cleveland Baseball Club is hoping for as they hand the ball to Zach Plesac for the series finale against the White Sox. Zach Plesac will be looking for a better performance this time out considering he has been pummeled in his last two starts against the White Sox. Plesac has allowed 12 runs on 14 hits in only 5.2 innings against Chicago this season. The one positive is that his second start he was able to go 5 innings, a significant improvement over his first start which saw him unable to get out of the 1st. It will b...

McKenzie gives up 5 runs in 7-3 Cleveland loss

It was not a good day for the Cleveland Baseball Club pitcher as he allowed 5 runs in just two innings. Things could not have gone much worse for Triston McKenzie in his start on Saturday. The Cleveland Baseball Club pitcher had trouble finding the zone and was issuing walks left and right. McKenzie walked the bases loaded with two outs in the inning, even walking in the first run of the game, but that wasn't the worst part. Tim Anderson proceeded to hit a grand slam which would lead to McKenzie leaving the game when the inning was up. After McKenzie's exit Cleveland used five different pitchers to finish the game. Phil Maton was the only other pitcher to allow runs to score with Leury Garcia driving in both on a double in the 4th inning. Cal Quantrill would take over and work 1.2 ...

Triston McKenzie starts Saturday in Chicago

It will be his fourth start of the season as the Cleveland Baseball Club takes on the Chicago White Sox. After a 5-3 win on Friday, the Cleveland Baseball Club is looking to secure a series win in Chicago on Saturday. In their quest for their second straight win over the White Sox, they will hand the ball to Triston McKenzie. Triston McKenzie will be making his fourth start of the year and he is looking for two things. To limit walks and to go deeper into games. The good things is that both of those go hand in hand. McKenzie has walked four batters in three of his four appearances this season and that has led to high pitch counts and early exits. The good news is that his only start which he didn't walk four was against Chicago earlier this season. Perhaps McKenzie can repeat his a...

Cleveland backs Bieber in 5-3 win

The Cleveland Baseball Club defeated the Chicago White Sox 5-3 in their first game of their weekend series. Friday night provided a great start for the Cleveland Baseball Club in Chicago. Cleveland got an excellent start from Shane Bieber and was able to score just enough off of Dallas Keuchel to come away with a 5-3 win. Bieber did allow 3 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk, but that is not the focus of his performance. It was his 11 strikeouts that set yet another MLB record. It is Bieber's 18th straight game with 8 or more strikeouts, a streak that dates back to 2019. https://twitter.com/MandyBell02/status/1388303639303892997?s=20 With the performance of Bieber all Cleveland had to do was score some runs and they delivered. Jose Ramirez got things started with a 2-RBI single in ...

Shane Bieber starts for Cleveland in Chicago

The Cleveland Baseball Club will turn to reigning the Cy Young Award winner when they take on White Sox in Chicago. Not too long ago the Cleveland Baseball Club took on the Chicago White Sox with Shane Bieber on the mound. Things went well for Cleveland and Bieber as he struck out 13 batters over 9 innings in a 2-0 win. A repeat performance could be in store as Bieber will look to get back into the win column after losing his last start against the Yankees. Shane Bieber has an era of 2.48 in 5 starts this season with a 0.936 WHIP and 14.1 K/9. Bieber's 57 strikeouts on the year is first in the American League and second in the majors behind Jacob deGrom. As expected, Jose Abreau and Yoan Moncada are the two Chicago hitters who have given Shane Bieber issues in the past. Abreu is...

Aaron Civale to pitch at home vs. White Sox

The Cleveland Baseball Club is turning to the 25-year starter for their matchup with the Chicago White Sox. Funny sometimes how things seem to repeat themselves. It was just last week that the Cleveland Baseball Club was no-hit by the Chicago White Sox and they turned to Aaron Civale in search of a victory. Well, Cleveland lost Tuesday to Chicago again and are looking at Aaron Civale for a win. In his last start against Chicago, Aaron Civale allowed only 1 run on 5 hits with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 6 innings en route to a 4-2 win over Chicago. The only run allowed by Civale was on a Yoan Moncada single which allowed Tim Anderson to score. Cleveland and Civale will be hoping for a similar performance as they look to get back over .500 on the year. Aaron Civale is 3-0 on the ye...
