Two members of the Monsters have been added to the Taxi Squad of the Columbus Blue Jackets while another was reassigned to Cleveland.

Just one day after a couple of roster moves were made in Cleveland, two more Monsters have been added to the Taxi Squad of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Liam Foudy and Jake Christiansen are now on the Taxi Squad while Columbus has assigned Cam Johnson back to Cleveland.

The Blue Jackets are currently navigating an injury and COVID situation which has resulted in the club sending players up and down from the Taxi Squad. Columbus plays their next game Thursday in New Jersey while Cleveland will play Friday in Milwaukee. Making these type of moves now provides flexibility for the parent club while their AHL affiliate has to make things work on the fly.

When the 2021-22 season begins for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Cam Johnson will be in Cleveland. The team assigned the goaltender to the Monsters after reportedly not meeting fitness standards. Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reported the news Friday.

Additionally, Portzline also mentioned that Brad Larsen stated that “He’s pretty far on the outside right now” in regards to a return to Columbus.

Cam Johnson has played the last three seasons with the Florida Everblades of the East Coast Hockey League. During his time in Florida, Johnson saved an increasingly higher number of shots, with a 0.915 save percentage in 2018-19 to 0.941 in 2020-21.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have made a few roster moves with their goaltenders.

An injury to Elvis Merzlikins has resulted in the Columbus Blue Jackets making a couple of moves. Moves that include Cam Johnson being recalled from the Cleveland Monsters and being placed on the taxi squad.

Cam Johnson was assigned to the Monsters earlier in the week as part of a few moves made with goaltenders. Matiss Kivlenieks has now gone from the Monsters, to the taxi squad, to the Blue Jackets active roster. Kivlenieks will back up Joonas Korpisalo while Johnson will be the next in line should there be another injury.
