Shane Bieber wants extension to remain in Cleveland

Cleveland Guardians pitcher Shane Bieber has state that he hopes he can receive a contract extension from the Cleveland Guardians. A four-year major leaguer and 2020 Cy Young Award winner, Bieber has been one of the best pitchers in Cleveland during that span.

This now turns the focus to the front office to get a deal done. While there is skepticism among. the fans that it happens, Cleveland has agreed to extensions with pitchers in the past such as Corey Kluber and Carlos Carrasco.

Shane Bieber led all of baseball in 2020 with 122 strikeouts, 1.63 ERA, 2.07 FIP, 14.2 K/9, and eight wins while leading the American League with 273 ERA+ and 5.4 H/9. 2021 saw Bieber race out to an early lead in the strikeout department, but a midseason injury derailed his season and was one of several pitching injuries Cleveland dealt with. 2022 should provide a better season for Bieber with more stability for the entire pitching staff as well.
