A trade rumor involving Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. popped up Wednesday morning but turned out to be false.
Prior to the Cleveland Browns releasing their new uniforms, a trade rumor involving Odell Beckham Jr. almost made Browns twitter explode.
ProFootballTalk even picked up the story after this report went semi-viral.
The rumor turned out to be false as multiple reports shut down the rumor as soon as it popped up.
Things could have gotten awkward rather quickly if the Browns released new uniforms and traded Odell Beckham Jr. the same day. Luckily, that is not the case as OBJ will remain in Cleveland.
This is not the first time a trade to Minnesota has been suggested. A recent mock draft had Beckham heading to Minnesota and the Browns drafting Patrick Queen 22nd overall.
If the Browns were to trade Beckham they would at minimum need one first rounder. Anything less than that would be a complete failure on their part. The problem is that Beckham’s perceived value is not that of what he should get in a trade. Beckham is recovering from offseason surgery and is coming of a sub-par season by OBJ standards.
As it stands now, Odell Beckham Jr. is a member of the Cleveland Browns. Exactly how long the previous sentence remains true will continue to be a point of contention moving forward.
