As predicted, the Columbus Blue Jackets have opted to recall a player from the Cleveland Monsters, left winger Jakob Lilja.
The possibility of the Columbus Blue Jackets recalling someone from the Cleveland Monsters was very real. The sensation that is Liam Foudy has to return to the London Knights per the NHL-CHL agreement and that puts Columbus in a situation where they need a left winger. Jakob Lilja is the left winger the the Blue Jackets have opted to add to their roster.
Columbus going to Cleveland to add some offense to their roster is quite entertaining considering the comments of John Tortorella earlier this week.
The recall of Jakob Lilja comes right as the Cleveland Monsters begin a brutal road trip. The absence of Lilja will be felt when Cleveland faces the Griffins, IceHogs, and Wolves this weekend. Lilja has 13 points (5 goals, 8 assists) in 22 games with Cleveland this season. The Monsters will be forced to depend on other forwards in their lineup to contribute during the absence of Lilja.
This is not the first taste of NHL action for Jakob Lilja. Lilja has previously appeared in 27 games for the Blue Jackets this season. In his time with Columbus, Lilja has 4 points courtesy of 2 goals and assists.
