Isaac Okoro named NBA All-Rookie second team

The Cleveland Cavaliers rookie has been named to the 2020-2021 All-Rookie second team.

There were not a lot of high points in the 2020-21 season for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the play of Isaac Okoro was one. Okoro played well enough to earn NBA All-Rookie second team honors.

Isaac Okoro started all 67 games he appeared in and averaged 9.6 points on 42% shooting from the field in addition to 3.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. Okoro was much better inside the three-point line as he shot 29% from deep and 50.1% from two. Offense was not the primary reason why Okoro was the Cavs pick at five, it was defense. Okoro came in as a good defender while his offense was a work in progress. Over the course of the season the offense improved, averaging 16.2 points in the final 12 games of the season. There are signs that a major step forward offensively could come next season and that would be a huge win for the Cavs in their rebuild process.
