The fourth and final game between the Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds will have to wait one more day as Wednesday’s contest was postponed due to weather. The game will be made up on Thursday at 1:10 P.M. as it is a mutual off day for both clubs.
Wednesday’s postponement is the fifth postponed home game of the season for the Guardians, an astonishing number for a team that has played just 13 games at Progressive Field while they have had 21 road affairs.
Cleveland won the first two games of the season series with Cincinnati’s extra-innings win Tuesday giving the Reds their first win of the year. The two wins earlier in the year were enough for the Guardians to retain the Ohio Cup.
This extra day of rest for Cleveland comes at a time when they are experiencing some organizational shuffling. Three of the seven coaches in health and safety protools returned to the club Wednesday. Meanwhile the only player in said protocols, Josh Naylor, could make his return to the lineup Friday.
