Cleveland trades one, options four players Friday

The Cleveland Baseball Club has traded one player while optioning four others Friday.

Some decisions are being made by the Cleveland Baseball Club in regards to who will be on their roster moving forward. The team already has decided to part ways with Billy Hamilton and made some moves Friday. Cleveland has traded utility infielder Mike Freeman to the Cincinnati Reds in addition to optioning Nolan Jones, Carlos Vargas, Jean Carlos Mejia, and Scott Moss.

Freeman was sent to the Reds for cash considerations (insert Dolans cheap joke here).

Of the players optioned to the minors, Moss was really the only one with a chance to make the big league club. Jones is blocked for the time being with a real chance possibly coming later this season. Vargas and Mejia are two pitchers who figure to be in later plans as the Cleveland bullpen is relatively full for the time being.

The team also sent down pitchers Eli Morgan and Kyle Dowdy.
