The Cleveland Baseball Club struggled as they only managed 4 hits in their 7-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs Tuesday.
To be blunt, 4 hits are not enough to win a game. That is all Cleveland could manage as they lost 7-1 to the Cubs Tuesday.
Adam Plutko started Tuesday due to the inexcusable actions of Mike Clevinger this past weekend. Pluto pitched admirably, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk in 4 innings. The problem is when Cam Hill came on to pitch in the 6th inning. The Cubs teed off on Hill as he did not get out of. the inning. HIll’s final line was 0.2 innings pitched, 2 hits allowed, 1 walk, 4 earned runs, not exactly spectacular. Phil Maton relieved Hill and allowed 1 run on 1 hit while striking out 1.
Offensively Cleveland did not have a good night yet again with only 4 hits and walking twice. Even when the hits have been scarce the team has been able to walk at an impressive rate and that simply did not happen Tuesday. Cleveland’s only run came from a Franmil Reyes double which allowed Francisco Lindor to score in the bottom of the 6th. Reyes had half of Cleveland’s hit with two. Francisco Lindor and Carlos Santana each had a hit bringing the team total to 4.
