Cleveland drops both games of doubleheader vs Rays

The Cleveland Baseball Club lost both games of their doubleheader with the Tampa Bay Rays including getting no-hit in Game 2.

The losing streak for the Cleveland Baseball Club now sits at nine. This comes after dropping both games in their doubleheader Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Cleveland was forced to make a handful of moves before the game due to inquires, which was an ominous sign that things were not going to go their way.

Game 1 saw Cleveland getting blown out 8-1 and the result was never in doubt. Tampa scored three runs in the bottom of the 1st and that was more than enough to come away with the win. A solo home run from Franmil Reyes gave Cleveland their only run of the day, but Tampa would homer three more times in the contest to tally five more runs.

Game 2 was a display of complete offensive futility. Cleveland was no-hit for the third time this season, even though it doesn’t officially count as a no-hitter due to a decision made in 1991 about what constitutes a no-hitter. At the end of the day though, Cleveland was no-hit for the third time this year.

The time to sell is coming soon for the Cleveland Baseball Club. Even though they have put together an impressive effort up to this point, the injuries are just too much to overcome. Their losing streak now has Cleveland sitting eight games back of the Chicago White Sox in the division and five games behind the Oakland Athletics for the second Wild Card.
