Cleveland bats fizzle out again in 5-3 loss

The Cleveland Baseball Club scored the first three runs of the game again but were unable to come away with a win in a 5-3 loss.

Anyone watching the game and in attendance for Friday night’s game must have had a serious case of deja vu, because the game was almost a near duplicate of the night before. The Cleveland Baseball Club scored three runs in the bottom of the 1st and could have knocked out the Jordan Montgomery only for their bats to silent in what was another loss.

This has to be frustrating for Cleveland as they seemed to be hot early only to get 1 hit by the Yankees bullpen. Add in the fact that Logan Allen gave up the lead immediately this time and it even makes things just a bit worse. Unlike New York, Cleveland had to make an early pitching change as Allen only lasted 2.1 innings while Montgomery was able to labor through 4.2.

Through the first two games of this series Cleveland seems to be doing the one thing they cannot do against this Yankees lineup, let them get hot. New York seems to be stringing together hits quite frequently which is something that they were struggling to do entering this series. With two straight losses to the Yankees the best they can hope for is a series split, but that is a tall task and seems unlikely. Cleveland will have to silent New York’s bats and get excellent pitching performances in their final two games for that happen. Essentially, be the complete opposite of what they were in the first two games of the series so far.
