Cedi Osman

Cedi Osman’s 2023-24 contract is now fully guaranteed

The Cleveland Cavaliers had a decision to make in regards to the future of Cedi Osman and that decision has been made. Osman’s $6.7 million contract for next season has been fully guaranteed for the 2023-24 season.

Cedi Osman averaged 8.7 points on 45.1% shooting from the field and 37.2% from deep in 20.1 minutes per game last season. Of his 77 games played, 75 came off the bench which was a new career-high in that area.

From a continuity perspective this makes sense for Cleveland. Cedi Osman has been with the team since the 2017-18 season. The issue comes from the on-court basketball aspect. Osman is a frustratingly inconsistent player and can bring the Cavaliers offense to a complete stop in just a few minutes. At the same time he is also capable of getting hot for an extended stretch in scoring double-digits rather quickly.

Cleveland has clear issues at the small forward position and has attempted to solve them through various means. Perhaps they believe Osman can be a solution to shore up what is by far their weakest position group.
