Cedi Osman coming off the bench makes sense

Cleveland Cavaliers small forward Cedi Osman will need to step up and improve his consistency on the offensive end of the floor.

With the injury to Kevin Porter Jr., there is no real threat to remove Cedi Osman from the starting lineup. With a roster that could see major changes as the season progresses, there was a possibly that Osman could find himself in a different role. One that had him coming off the bench. Now that Porter is sidelined or two weeks, Osman will remain in the starting lineup.

When watching Cedi Osman play there are flashes of great play, but they are not consistent enough to warrant being a starter. Osman might be better off coming off the bench playing approximately 15-20 minutes per game. Shorter spurts could get the most out of Osman. The longer the stretch that Osman players, the more missteps he seems to be make. Whether it be an ill-advised three-pointer or failing to pass out of the crowded painted area. Cedi Osman seems to go through stretches which are frustrating to watch.

Perhaps coming off the bench could maximize the performance of Osman. If things are not working he can head to the bench and come back later and try again. Osman always seems to play with a lot of energy, a common trait of bench players. This just seems like a combination that makes too much sense to not happen.

For the time being, Cedi Osman will remain as a starter. If Osman is unable to eliminate his mistakes with the starters could find himself in a new role. A role which may be able to get the most out of a player that just doesn’t seem to fit with the starters night in and night out.

It’s all about finding long term solutions at this point and one could be Cedi Osman coming off the bench.
