Browns not in on Will Fuller

It does not appear that a Will Fuller - Deshaun Watson reunion is happening any time soon. The Browns are reportedly not in on Fuller according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Cabot also mentions that Cleveland has not had discussions with former Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton. The reason why there was so much speculation about Fuller coming to Cleveland is due to Watson. Watson was able to be successful with Fuller in Houston during their four years together. Three out of Fuller's five seasons with the Texans saw him average more than 15 yards per reception. The Cleveland Browns signed tight end David Njoku to an incredibly risky four-year $56.75 million contract extension. Any contract extension is a risk by a team. That risk grows as the dollar figure increases. It becomes a very large risk when the player being extended still has not lived up to his first round draft status. D’Ernest Johnson attends voluntary OTA’s

Still unsigned D'Ernest Johnson is in attendance for the Cleveland Browns OTA's. Johnson is a restricted free agent tagged with the right of first refusal tender by Cleveland. With this tender the Browns will have the chance match any offer that a team sends Johnson's way. Cleveland currently has plenty of quality options at running back on their roster, notably Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Barring unforeseen circumstances there is not a path towards regular playing time for D'Ernest Johnson. Chubb and Hunt (when healthy) will handle the majority of the offensive snaps for Cleveland. Examining the Browns defensive line

Coming out of last season there were some serious questions that needed to be asked about the defensive line of Cleveland Browns. Impressive performances from some members of their line were able to boost the overall performance of the unit. Others, interior players specifically, were rather forgettable as Cleveland's defensive tackle play was some of the worst in all of football. Browns re-sign Jadeveon Clowney

After a ton of speculation the Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms with Jadeveon Clowney on a one-year contract. Clowney appeared in 14 games for the first time since 2018 while tallying nine sacks, also the first time since 2018. With this deal Cleveland is able to bring back a player who was productive last season playing opposite Myles Garrett while at the same time limiting their long term commitment to someone who has a past of injury and inconsistency.

Browns would be wise to sign Clowney and Suh

The Cleveland Browns still have an obvious hole on their defense, the defensive line. That can be addressed by signing both Jadeveon Clowney and Ndamukong Suh. Clowney and Suh have been linked to Cleveland lately and could provide short-term help while they look to take the next step forward as a team. At this point in their careers, Clowney and Suh are both better utilized in a rotational format. Clowney had his best season in years in 2021 with 74% of defensive snaps played while Suh played a career-low in snaps (63%) but registered his highest sack total since 2015 with six.
