Browns have “backed off” Ndamukong Suh

Earlier this offseason the Cleveland Browns were linked to free agent defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, but it appears they backed off in their pursuit. https://twitter.com/StainbrookNFL/status/1531626615473577984?s=20&t=WPTJsxkauRdkJaC9qjEu_Q Tampa and Las Vegas are the two teams still in the mix for the talented veteran. That being said Tampa did just sign Akiem Hicks to a one-year deal. It appears that the Bucs had their choices between Hicks and Ndamukong Suh, opting for the former Chicago Bear. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1531692888664457217?s=20&t=WPTJsxkauRdkJaC9qjEu_Q The unfortunate aspect for Cleveland in this is that their defensive line still needs some work. Adding Ndamukong Suh to their mix of defensive line options would have been a mass...

Browns not in on Will Fuller

It does not appear that a Will Fuller - Deshaun Watson reunion is happening any time soon. The Browns are reportedly not in on Fuller according to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. Cabot also mentions that Cleveland has not had discussions with former Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton. The reason why there was so much speculation about Fuller coming to Cleveland is due to Watson. Watson was able to be successful with Fuller in Houston during their four years together. Three out of Fuller's five seasons with the Texans saw him average more than 15 yards per reception. There is a very large ongoing issues when it comes to Fuller that cannot be ignored, injures. Fuller has played more than 11 games just once, his rookie season in 2016. Since then he has missed 30 out of 81 total games. Multip...

David Njoku extension very risky move by Browns

The Cleveland Browns signed tight end David Njoku to an incredibly risky four-year $56.75 million contract extension. Any contract extension is a risk by a team. That risk grows as the dollar figure increases. It becomes a very large risk when the player being extended still has not lived up to his first round draft status. That is the state of affairs when it comes to David Njoku and the Cleveland Browns. Coming into the draft Njoku was profiled as a raw developmental project type player. During his five seasons in the league those skills have improved slightly, but he is still a very raw player who is nowhere near refinement. The idea of what Njoku could be versus what he actually is leads to overvaluing from fans and media alike. In one of the more risky moves from Clevelan...

David Njoku signs four-year extension

The Cleveland Browns came into this offseason focused on the big picture and that continued Friday as they extended David Njoku. Njoku signed a four-year deal worth $56.75 million with $28 million guaranteed. https://twitter.com/RapSheet/status/1530286463056809985?s=20&t=NHEoABqqGHalvv1vlROjEw In five seasons David Njoku has totaled 148 receptions for 1,754 yards and 15 touchdowns. This deal is not about past production, but about future potential. Njoku is someone who is all about potential. Raw athleticism paired with the physical presence (6'4" 246 lbs) have been his calling cards since he was drafted, but not amounting too all that much. Cleveland is obviously betting on Njoku having better output now having swapped Baker Mayfield for Deshaun Watson. The offense will be m...

D’Ernest Johnson attends voluntary OTA’s

Still unsigned D'Ernest Johnson is in attendance for the Cleveland Browns OTA's. Johnson is a restricted free agent tagged with the right of first refusal tender by Cleveland. With this tender the Browns will have the chance match any offer that a team sends Johnson's way. Cleveland currently has plenty of quality options at running back on their roster, notably Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Barring unforeseen circumstances there is not a path towards regular playing time for D'Ernest Johnson. Chubb and Hunt (when healthy) will handle the majority of the offensive snaps for Cleveland. While it is possible for Johnson to flash his potential again behind Chubb and Hunt, this type of part-time role would be more suited for Demetric Felton, Jerome Ford, and John Kelly. The 26-year old back ...

Deshaun Watson’s expensive gift to teammate

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson decided to give teammate Anthony Walker a gift. What was that gift? A Rolex. https://twitter.com/MySportsUpdate/status/1529548751836172289?s=20&t=Ol1ATFGbDkd9UVtpBLBPFQ Gifting Walker a Rolex was a big thank you from Deshaun Watson for giving him the No. 4 jersey. Walker will wear the No. 5 jersey next season in Cleveland.

Examining the Browns defensive line

Coming out of last season there were some serious questions that needed to be asked about the defensive line of Cleveland Browns. Impressive performances from some members of their line were able to boost the overall performance of the unit. Others, interior players specifically, were rather forgettable as Cleveland's defensive tackle play was some of the worst in all of football. To be blunt, changes needed to be made if this unit to improve. The team made some decisions to alter the group through multiple means, but where do things stand now? Cleveland came into the offseason with needing to add to a group featuring Myles Garrett in addition to Jordan Elliott, Tommy Togiai, and Sheldon Day. The Browns moved on from Malik Jackson, Malik McDowell, Takk McKinley, and Porter Gustin ...

Browns re-sign Jadeveon Clowney

After a ton of speculation the Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms with Jadeveon Clowney on a one-year contract. The deal will pay Clowney $11 million for the upcoming season. https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1528427043322580994?s=20&t=wtt3c1qkStKE7PbgrwGU4w It was a resurgent year for Jadeveon Clowney in Cleveland last season. Clowney appeared in 14 games for the first time since 2018 while tallying nine sacks, also the first time since 2018. With this deal Cleveland is able to bring back a player who was productive last season playing opposite Myles Garrett while at the same time limiting their long term commitment to someone who has a past of injury and inconsistency.

Browns would be wise to sign Clowney and Suh

The Cleveland Browns still have an obvious hole on their defense, the defensive line. That can be addressed by signing both Jadeveon Clowney and Ndamukong Suh. Clowney and Suh have been linked to Cleveland lately and could provide short-term help while they look to take the next step forward as a team. At this point in their careers, Clowney and Suh are both better utilized in a rotational format. Clowney had his best season in years in 2021 with 74% of defensive snaps played while Suh played a career-low in snaps (63%) but registered his highest sack total since 2015 with six. From a playing style standpoint these two would wreak havoc on opposing offenses. Clowney and Suh are both able to single-handedly create chaos. If the Browns were to have both players on the field at the s...

Browns sign 12 undrafted free agents

It is that time of year, the time when teams sign undrafted free agents. The Cleveland Browns have signed 12 undrafted free agents https://twitter.com/RuiterWrongFAN/status/1525099057584160771?s=20&t=3bY32-_kegHKuerOrGQUMg Depth at the wide receiver position was an issue for the Browns last season and they are doing everything they can to prevent that from repeating itself in 2022. Cleveland selected David Bell and Mike Woods in the draft and have signed three undrafted free agents in Mike Harley Jr., Travell Harris, and Isaiah Weston. Cleveland should be able to figure their receiver room out prior to this season with all of these additions joining the likes of Amari Cooper, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and Anthony Schwartz. Cleveland also addressed their interior defensive lin...
