Browns take their turn in scaring fans

The Cleveland Browns released starting left tackle Greg Robinson Sunday with the intention of re-signing him to a new contract.

Now the Cleveland Browns have decided it’s their turn to scare the fan base. This comes after Antonio Callaway scared fans just a few days ago. The team released Greg Robinson Sunday. The good news here is that the team will re-sign their starting left tackle.

Apparently this move was so the team could keep Drew Forbes.

If the Browns front office was planning on giving all of Cleveland a simultaneous heart attack they may have succeeded. The initial reaction was a mix of confusion and anger.

Some were worried that Robinson would be subject to the waiver process (he is not).

Of course deals like this do not have the best history in Cleveland. (Look up Carlos Boozer when you get a chance). So it is understandable why so many were worried that Robinson could leave.

While things appear that it will work out for Cleveland this time, the whole process was not great. Considering the first report was just about his release and did not mention the re-signing part of the equation. Some speculated a trade was coming. Perhaps for Washington’s Trent Williams. When a trade was not announced for a brief moment it appeared that there would be a new left tackle for Week 1. Not necessarily a recipe for success with the first game of the season so close.

Luckily that was not the case as Greg Robinson appears to be returning to the Browns starting lineup for Week 1. Baker Mayfield will have a familiar face lining up on the line as the Browns host the Titans at home to start the season.
