As long as the Cleveland Browns have obvious holes at the tackle position mock drafts will continue to have them drafting one 10th overall. That is just what NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah has the Browns doing. Selecting Georgia’s Andrew Thomas.
Here is Jeremiah’s reason for the selection.
The Browns need to address the offensive tackle position, and Thomas is a steady player.
Daniel Jeremiah on mocking Georgia’s Andrew Thomas to the Browns at 10
Can’t fault the logic here. Andrew Thomas very well could be the Browns answer to their obvious problem at left tackle. The team has tried several options since the retirement of Joe Thomas. At best there has been moderate success, while a complete disaster has been the case more often than not. At the end of the day Cleveland needs to find solutions on both sides of the line.
Jeremiah has three lineman going ahead of Thomas in his mock. Tristan Wirfs (a popular pick for Cleveland) goes fourth overall to the Giants. The specimen that is Mekhi Becton is selected sixth by the Chargers. Jedrick Wills Jr. is taken by Arizona at eight. All three have been mocked to Cleveland at one point or another.
If things work out in this manner the Browns may be very tempted to either address a different position or trade down. Best player available could be their best course of action if three lineman are taken ahead of them on draft day.
