Bobby Wagner

Browns should pursue Bobby Wagner

The Cleveland Browns are going to have to make some moves to improve their roster, specifically on defense, and a surprising option has become available. The Seattle Seahawks are releasing Bobby Wagner and Cleveland should be interested in his services.

Bobby Wagner is a six-time All-Pro and has been the longtime defensive captain for Seattle. A player like Wagner becoming available is not a scenario that happens often. Wagner is a tackling machine, averaging just over nine tackles per game while missing just 10 games in 10 years. With Cleveland running a defense that is not foreign to Wagner, they should make a push to sign him.

While the Browns have a rising star in Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, they still need another linebacker on their defense as contrary to popular belief, linebackers do matter. Pairing Wagner with Owuwu-Koramoah would create a dynamic duo at linebacker that would take the defense to the next level. The Browns have taken shots in back-to-back years with one-year deals for B.J. Goodson and Anthony Walker Jr., with mixed results. Now is the time to take the big swing and attempt to add an elite talent to a defense that truly needs it.
