The Cleveland Browns have selected University of Michigan wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.
Donovan Peoples-Jones is now a member of the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland had some needs on the defensive side of the ball and apparently the Browns decided to ignore them in the final rounds of the draft, making Peoples-Jones their pick in the sixth round.
There were some who believed that Peoples-Jones would go much higher than this, but that was not the case.
According to a scouting report from Lance Zierlein, there are plenty of issues with Peoples-Jones.
Former five-star and top-rated receiver coming out of high school, Peoples-Jones failed to find the success and production expected over his three seasons at Michigan. His route tempo is sluggish, but he has some savvy and shortcuts footwork for out-breaking routes to the boundary. He doesn’t run well enough to play outside in the pros but has decent tape as a big slot. His pro limitations go beyond Michigan’s spotty offense and he may not reach any higher than being an average backup.

Zierlein also mentions in his report that Peoples-Jones failed to reach 100-yards receiving in a game. Eclipsing 100-yards receiving is something that should be expected from a receiver at a big time college football program and the fact that he did not do this once is concerning.
