ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that the Cleveland Browns have offered Jadeveon Clowney the most money out of all teams interested.
Just as the Jadeveon Clowney rumors were popping up again it seems like they are about to cool down. ESPN’s Adam Schefter appeared on The Next Level and provided some information about the Browns pursuit of Clowney. From what Schefter reported, it does not sound like Clowney is all that interested in coming to Cleveland.
Originally the reports about Jadeveon Clowney were all about money, but it seems like there is a bit more selectivity here. Instead of taking the highest offer, Clowney is putting a little more thought into his decision.
There are plenty of reasons why Jadeveon Clowney would not sign here that are not money related. First off, the Browns are one of the most unstable organizations in sports. What they have done this offseason does nothing change that. It could all fall apart in just a few months and they are back to square one, it has happened before and it could certainly happen again. The Browns not only have a first time general manager, but a first time head coach. These two are unproven in their new roles and Clowney is not someone who can take a chance on an unproven regime at a crucial point in his career.
It really seems like that Jadeveon Clowney just does not want to end up in Cleveland. There are sure to be other teams willing to pay for his services. Proven teams, stable organizations, pretty much anything that is not the Cleveland Browns. It may not be the same amount of money that the Browns are offering, but it may provide a significantly better chance at winning in both the short and long term.
