Brandon Knight – trade candidate

The Cleveland Cavaliers are most likely going to sell off some players before the trade deadline and Brandon Knight could very well be on the move.

Brandon Knight is not the most eye-popping name that will be available to acquire, but that does not mean he will not draw interest. Knight is far from the player some thought he could be early on in his career. A mixture of injuries and playing in less than stellar situations have not helped.

Brandon Knight had a decent 27 game stint in Cleveland last season. Averaging 8.5 points, 2.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds after being acquired from Houston. Knight’s 41.3 field goal percentage and 44.8 three-point percentage were his best since his career year back in 2015-16. Knight is never going to be the star that some hoped, but he can be a decent piece off the bench in the right situation. He is in the final year of his contract and could be appealing for a team looking for a short rental.

In regards to the Cavaliers, they have plenty of guards on the roster. Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Dante Exum, Kevin Porter Jr., and Matthew Dellavedova. Exum has put together some surprising performances off the bench which could motivate Cleveland to move Knight sooner rather than later.

Landing on a contending team could pay dividends for Knight. It could give him the opportunity to shine and potentially get a new contract that goes into his 30’s. The Cavaliers can set him up with a chance to be employed beyond this season. After that, it is all up to Brandon Knight.
