Bradley Zimmer progressing in minors

Bradley Zimmer is working his way back from injury in the minor leagues and is showing some signs of progression in the process.

It has been a long time since Bradley Zimmer appeared in a Major League game. In fact the last game Bradley Zimmer played in the Majors was June 3, 2018. Since then it has been a long rehab process as he works his way back from a shoulder injury.

Zimmer is finally getting at-bats during games and is actually producing at the plate. In 10 games across several levels of minor league competition Zimmer is slashing .375/.444/.708 with an OPS of 1.153 with two doubles, two home runs and five runs driven in.

The 26-year old outfielder is doing what he is supposed to be doing against lesser competition, succeeding.

What must be mentioned is that there has been a visible change in Bradley Zimmer’s batting stance.

Zimmer is now standing up more upright and is no longer using his previous approach. Crouching down like that for someone who is 6’5″ can cause some problems. All it takes is something extremely minor and the entire swing is affected. It can also take a long time to fix the issue which can cause headaches for the player in addition to the team. Zimmer’s more upright stance provides a more stable base which allows for a more consistent swing. This new swing should allow Zimmer to be a bit more productive than this previous stints in Cleveland. Zimmer slashed .237/.300/.370 with an OPS of .671 in 135 games across two seasons.

Cleveland could call up Bradley Zimmer at some point later this season if they feel he is ready. If the Indians do not believe he is ready for Major League pitching and they can find a way to fit him into their outfield rotation. All in all anything that Bradley Zimmer provides this season should be considered a bonus.
