The Cleveland Browns two-time Pro Bowler remains in concussion protocol.
Whether or not Denzel Ward returns to the field Monday is still up in the air. Coach Kevin Stefanski stated that Ward is still in concussion protocol at the current time. If Ward were to miss Monday’s game against Cincinnati it would be his third straight.
Like most of the Browns defense Denzel Ward has not had an easy go of things to start the year. Ward is allowing 60% completion rate and 14.8 yards per reception in five games. The 266 yards allowed and 199 through the air are alarming numbers. If Ward were to play Monday and this pace continue the rest of the season it would be nearly 800 total and almost 600 through the air, career-worsts by far. While it is unlikely that this rate continues, the early success opposing quarterbacks have had against Ward is a major cause for concern. This is in addition to having another concussion, something that he is not a stranger to in his career.
