Cavs – Ricky Rubio reunion still possible

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to be linked to a reunion with Ricky Rubio according to a report from Jason Lloyd of The Athletic. Lloyd mentions that Cleveland still has interest in Rubio even after drafting Ochai Agbaji 14th overall.

“The Cavs are very much interested in bringing back Ricky Rubio, whose expiring contract was used as matching salary in the LeVert trade. If they do, it would give them 14 guaranteed contracts. They didn’t want to add any others at this stage.”

Jason Lloyd on Cavs interest in Ricky Rubio

Ricky Rubio only appeared in 34 games with the Cavs, but he did manage to make an impactful impression. After tearing his ACL and his subsequent trade to Indiana, a potential Cleveland return was mentioned from the onset. Rubio was in the middle of one of his better seasons in his career, averaging 13.1 points and 6.6 assists in 28.5 minutes per game. If Rubio were to return it would create a roster crunch for other reserve guards leading to some possible unpopular moves.
