Baker Mayfield is no longer the future at quarterback in Cleveland and another suitor has bowed out of the trade market. After being rumored to have interest in trading for Mayfield, the Carolina Panthers have refuted those rumors.
A follow up report from Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network has described it as “mutual disinterest”. That is most likely due to the chaos at the quarterback position in Carolina under Matt Rhule and gambling on another 2018 first round disappointment would not be in his best interest.
This is just the latest possible trade partner for Cleveland to be crossed off the list. Indianapolis, Washington, Denver, Houston, and Carolina have either acquired a different quarterback or said they are not interested in the services of Baker Mayfield. Reality appears to be coming quick and hitting hard as it does not appear that there is any sort of trade market for the former number one overall pick.
