Guardians interested in Joc Pederson

After being mostly silent since the lockout ended, the Cleveland Guardians reportedly have interest in free agent outfielder Joc Pederson according to Jon Morosi. Pederson split time between the Cubs and Braves last season, with being a key part of an outfield group for the World Series Champion Braves.

Joc Pederson has a career slash line of .232/.332/.462/.794 with 148 career home runs and 364 RBI in 885 games. Pederson has not .250 or above over the course of a season, but has shown the ability to be a power bat in lineup with four seasons of 25 or more home runs, 2019’s 36 home run campaign was his best and last.

If the Guardians were to sign Joc Pederson, it would be in a mostly platoon type scenario considering his slash line is considerably better against righties than lefties (.237/.341/.490 vs .208/.285/.325). While embarking on another outfield platoon situation is not ideal, Pederson could be a buy-low candidate for Cleveland to improve their outfield group.
