Cleveland signs Zack Godley to minor league deal

The Cleveland Baseball Club has agreed to a minor league deal with the right hander, assigning him to Triple-A Columbus.

One thing is abundantly clear about the Cleveland Baseball Club this season, they need all the pitching help they can get. Just a few days after agreeing to a deal with Brad Peacock, Cleveland has signed Zack Godley to a minor league deal.

Like with Peacock, Cleveland has assigned Zack Godley to Triple-A Columbus.

Zack Godley has been mostly inconsistent since his career year in 2017 with Arizona. During that season Godley pitched to the tune of a 3.37 ERA, 1.142 WHIP, and 9.6 K/9. With the exception of a six game stint with Toronto in 2019, those numbers have for the most part been worse for Godley. The only stat that has improved is strikeouts per nine and that was in 3.1 innings this season with Milwaukee (13.5). Taking into consideration that the number Godley was posting is unsustainable, it is not out of the question this statistic also drops below his previous career-best.
